Bathing water quality at Thalassîles

Before the start of each season, the pool is completely emptied and cleaned before being put back in the water. Only drinking water is authorised by the ARS. The water is heated at a rate of around 2°C per 24 hours.

Probes and measuring devices are calibrated and possibly recalibrated for a new season.

Everything is finally ready to run for more than 6000 hours without interruption.

During the season, the quality of the water is checked twice a day. Filters are checked, cleaned or changed if necessary, and the water level readjusted if required. The pool deck, handrails and sun loungers are disinfected every day.

In order to remedy any malfunctions as quickly as possible, we carry out additional tests every morning before the pool opens and again during the day. These tests are carried out using the same ambulatory equipment as the ARS. The results of the tests we carry out and any corrective action taken are recorded in the pool's health logbook. This record is made available to the ARS.

As a last resort, these actions may lead us to close the bath while we bring it back under control. This has happened once for a few hours in 10 years of operation.

Similarly, before the start of each season, the whirlpool bath and its circuits are completely emptied, disinfected and then put back in the water. Only drinking water is authorised by the ARS. The water is heated at a rate of around 4°C per 24 hours.

Probes and measuring devices are calibrated and possibly recalibrated for a new season.

The whirlpool machinery is similar to that of a swimming pool in terms of filtration and automatic chlorine and pH dosing. Then there are the massage and air jet pumps (blowers) and a safety system specific to whirlpool baths. All this is subject to preventive maintenance.

Everything is finally ready to run for more than 6000 hours without interruption.

Every week during the opening season, the whirlpool is emptied, cleaned and put back in the water.

The higher temperature (up to 37°C) requires stricter sanitary rules. Our daily checks may lead us to close the bath for the few hours necessary to compensate for any drift in water quality.

    Water quality monitored by theARS

The ARS also carries out random, unannounced checks on the quality of swimming pool and whirlpool water.

In addition, the ARS carries out more complex laboratory tests on the physical and bacteriological aspects of the water samples taken during these inspections. The results are recorded in an ARS memo that we are required to display. Any loss of control over water quality, whether due to our fault or not, as observed by the ARS, would lead to the prefect closing the bath. It would then be possible to reopen the bath only after the ARS has been made available to check the situation.

Don't hesitate to consult this note from the ARS, which is available on the notice board in the club house.

    Water quality is everyone's business

We check daily that the automatic pH and chlorine dosing systems are working properly and correct any drift. However, we can only observe any drift in water quality after the fact. We correct these deviations through actions that are often invisible to bathers. But in certain cases of pollution defined by the health authority (ARS), we have to close the bath and replace all or part of the water.

Les Thalassîles is a small tourist residence (10 villas), the size of a hamlet. This size encourages responsible behaviour by everyone. Sharing the swimming pool also means that we can pool the considerable resources needed to maintain good-quality water.

Water quality is everyone's business, and we are committed to a strict process to achieve it, for everyone's sake. your contribution through compliance with health rules is essential.

    Accessibility of whirlpool

Due to the higher health risk for children under 14, they are not allowed in the whirlpool, even if accompanied by their parents.

In accordance with ARS guidelines, we also ask people with infected or incompletely healed wounds not to use the hot tub. Water at a temperature of between 30°C and 37°C encourages microbial growth and the risk of transmission before it is eliminated by the automatic water treatment system.

It is also not recommended for pregnant women and people with heart problems.

It is advisable to limit swimming to 15 minutes.

It is compulsory to take a soapy shower before entering the whirlpool bath. If this point is not respected, it is highly likely that the quality of the water in the bath will be affected due to its small volume (1.7m3). This would lead to the bath being closed. It will take at least a day for the water to return to an acceptable quality and temperature.
