Before the start of each season, the pool is completely emptied and cleaned before being put back in the water. Only the use of drinking water is authorised by the ARS. The water is heated at a rate of approximately 2°C per 24 hours.
Probes and measuring devices are calibrated and possibly recalibrated for a new season.
Everything is finally ready to run for more than 6000 hours without interruption.
During the season the water quality is checked twice a day, the filters are checked, cleaned or changed if necessary, the water level readjusted if necessary. Every day the pool deck, ramps and sunbeds are disinfected.
In order to remedy any malfunction as quickly as possible, we carry out additional tests every morning before the pool opens and then during the day. These tests are carried out with the same ambulatory equipment as the ARS. The results of the tests we carry out and any corrective actions are recorded in the pool's health booklet. This booklet is made available to the ARS.
These actions can lead to the bath being closed down to bring it back under control as a last resort. This has happened once for a few hours in 10 years of operation.
Also, before the start of each season, the whirlpool and its circuits are completely emptied, disinfected and then put back in the water. Only the use of drinking water is authorised by the ARS. The water is heated at a rate of about 4°C per 24 hours.
Probes and measuring devices are calibrated and possibly recalibrated for a new season.
The machinery of the whirlpool is similar to that of a swimming pool as far as filtration and automatic chlorine and pH dosage are concerned. In addition, there are massage and air jet pumps (blowers) and a safety system specific to whirlpools. All this is subject to preventive maintenance.
Everything is finally ready to run for more than 6000 hours without interruption.
During the opening season, the whirlpool is emptied, cleaned and reopened every week.
The higher temperature (up to 37°C) requires stricter sanitary rules. Our daily checks may lead us to close the bath for a few hours to compensate for any drift in water quality.
Water quality under the control of theARS
The ARS also randomly checks the quality of the pool water and the whirlpool.
In addition, the ARS carries out more complex laboratory tests on the physical and bacteriological aspects of the water samples taken during these controls. The results are recorded in a note from the ARS which we are required to display. A loss of control of the quality of the water, whether it is our fault or not, noted by the ARS, would lead to a prefectural closure of the bath. Its reopening would then only be possible after the ARS has been brought under control and is available to observe it.
Do not hesitate to consult this note from the ARS which is available on the notice board in the club house.
Water quality is everyone's business
We check daily that the pH and chlorine dosage systems are working properly and that any deviations are corrected. However, we can only notice any drift in the quality of the water after the fact. We correct these drifts by actions that are often not perceptible to bathers. But in certain cases of pollution defined by the health authority (ARS) we have to close the bath and replace all or part of the water.
Les Thalassîles is a small tourist residence (10 villas), the size of a hamlet. This size encourages responsible behaviour by everyone. Moreover, the sharing of the swimming pool allows the pooling of the important means necessary to maintain a good quality of water.
Water quality is everyone's business, and we are committed to a strict process to achieve this for the benefit of all, but your contribution through compliance with health rules is essential.
Accessibility of whirlpool
Due to the higher health risk for children under 14, they are not allowed in the whirlpool, even if accompanied by their parents.
Following the ARS guidelines, we also ask people with infected or not completely healed wounds not to use the whirlpool. Water temperatures between 30°C and 37°C favour microbial growth and the risk of transmission before it is eliminated by the automatic water treatment system.
It is also not recommended for pregnant women and people with heart problems.
It is advisable to limit swimming to 15 minutes.
It is compulsory to take a soapy shower before entering the whirlpool. If this point is not respected, it is highly likely that the quality of the water in the bath will be affected due to its small volume (1.7m3). This would lead to the bath being closed. The time required to restore the water to an acceptable quality and temperature is at least one day.
